Shoulder Pain?

November 20, 20242 min read

I want to help you get out of shoulder pain.  Too many people suffer from it, and there is honestly no reason to continue to live with it.

I can't tell you how many times I see someone getting up from doing a bench press and rubbing their shoulder.  Instant hint that there is something going on that's about to get much worse in the shoulder.  But shoulder exercises and rotator cuff exercises are not just for those that do bench pressing movements.  Heck No!

Spend your day hunched over a computer?

Carry your child around the mall or at the park?

Tend to carry your purse or laptop on one shoulder consistently?

Sleep on your shoulders?

If you answered YES to any of the questions above, then this is especially for you.

Our shoulders take a beating day in and day out.  In our society we live our life in a forward posture all too often.  This constant forward posture can lead to all sorts of problems, from the obvious shoulder pain or discomfort, to neck pain, and yes, believe it or not, even lower back pain.

Everything is connected!

If you spend your day in poor posture, no matter what the reason, it's only a matter of time before your body starts giving you signals that something is wrong.  Most people will try to solve the problem by doing light stretching or more likely, avoiding the movements or activities that give them pain or discomfort.  That’s only a short term fix.  And to be quite honest, few things in life are improved by avoidance.

In many cases it’s an alignment issue. All of that hunching over the computer, sleeping on your shoulders, etc. all lead to creating a misalignment in your shoulders.  So you’ll need stretching AND corrective exercises to put back in alignment.

While there is a library of exercises you can do to improve shoulder function and eliminate shoulder pain, let me share with you a short sequence I’ve found provides great results.  You can download for free HERE.

Level 3

This is our advance level. In this level you will be asked to increase the challenges to your strength, balance and to some degree, your conditioning.  We continue to focus on the major joints of the body (hips, shoulder, and knees) with the added challenge of resistance. This level also includes the added challenge of coordination, as many movements require the integrated movement of both upper and lower body.

Level 4

This is our premium level.  In this level you will be asked to significantly challenge your body through increased demands on your functional core strength in movements that will significantly challenge your balance and strength simultaneously. Here we will ask you to begin to optimize your balance, core activation, and improved range of motion in a functional aspect – integrated movement of both upper and lower body, but at a higher level of accountability.
